Some of the biggest challenges that face those in the government contracting career field are that even though there are many experience professionals currently, there are not many new professionals entering the field. New entrants avoid Government Contracting careers. Further, there is a mismatch of skills and requirements. Even though, most of the government purchases are in the field of IT and services, the professionals in the area construction, material purchases, and building facilities. Another important challenge is that the culture and mindset of the government has not changed. They continue with old methods and cause frustration to contractors. Finally, the government is not satisfied with the quality of solicitations it receives from the industry.
