There were a variety of issues that surrounded the war in Vietnam and the return of the soldiers. Socially, the soldiers returning from war were publicly shunned. There was no great welcome, no gala affair as we often see today when soldiers return home from war. Many of the soldiers that returned home suffered from a variety of ailments due to the events that took place at war. Many began to suffer from issues like post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and had physical illnesses due to substance exposure, including most notably, Agent Orange.
