Marketing channels pass the product from the manufacturer to the consumer. Marketing channel is a group of interchange of relationship, which creates customer value in acquiring, consuming and disposing of products. Marketing channels run from two level channels to five level channels. The two level channels have no intermediaries, while five level channels have three level intermediaries (Channel of distribution, 2008).

The four level channel used for distribution of the cookie recipe through a bakery will include two intermediaries. The four levels of the distribution including intermediaries are manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer and consumer. All the levels of the channel are equally important for distribution purpose.
