The ethical situation in this case study revolves around welfare for the animals. By delaying the launch of its product in the animal blood market, the company is denying the veterinary community a noble solution that can saves lives of millions of animals around the globe. Even though the company's thought process to delay the launch of Oxyglobin is motivated by strategic business issues, this dilemma also gives rise to an ethical issue because the company's innovative product would be a boon for millions of pets who die or suffer due to constraints in supply of blood. Hence, it is unethical on part of the company to delay the launch of this product because it is denying animals a proven and effective solution that can address blood supply related constraints in the animal blood market.

This is different from business issue because business issue is only concerned with opportunity cost of launching the product today versus substantial expected gains by delaying the launch whereas ethical issue is concerned with setback to animal welfare due to delay in the launch of this product.
