A successful marketing strategy persuades people to buy the products or services that are being advertised. An effective way to achieve this is by appealing directly to one or more of the client's basic needs. Maslow's hierarchy of needs can be used as a guide in any marketing efforts. One can argue that meeting one or more of Maslow's hierarchy of needs can lead to success. According to Blanchard and Thacker (2010), understanding an individual's needs helps you understand their behavior. Needs is an important part of the motivation process; deciding how to go about satisfying those needs is the other important part of the motivation equation. Maslow assumes the existence that when one need is filled the individual moves toward the next need, and so on.
