The best way for a project manager to attempt to build solid relationships within his/her project team is be both a coach and a manager. The project manager needs to begin the project by emphasizing the importance of team playing throughout the project. This can be done verbally, through modeling, and most importantly, via the rules and regulations that are set and that everyone will abide by during the project. For example, the project manager will allow each team member to feel valuable by providing input into the project. Also, the regulations should be clear as to the need for each team member to respect the other's input into the project.
