Scenario: This exercise intends to ensure that you can:
(a) Describe the general structure of a computer network.
(b) Present some typical procedures for securing and maintaining networks.
(c) Identify the links between the technological components and the overall sociotechnical framework of the firm.

Now, imagine you are starting a new business; you are opening a medium-sized food store in your hometown. (if a food store does not suit you, then any similar-sized business is fine for this assignment.) Specifically, you now must design the technology and networking architecture for your business.

For this case, write description and justification for the technology and network architecture you decide upon and design. Be sure to articulate the structure, your procedure for securing and maintaining the network, and discuss and rationalize the socio-technical linkages that you design between your organization and the technology.

Greetings, hope you are well.

In designing for a new small business technology and network platform, the core principles are required for a successful implementation. Depending on the number of employees and size of business, the technology and network framework is able to proactively arrange resources based on the direct needs of the business operations. In doing so, the structure blueprint is based on the direct needs for the business operations, i.e. mid-sized food store with the ability to effectively communicate with all employees and management in real-time. Let's take a look at the main areas of focus for implementing a successful business technology and network framework:

- Description and justification for the technology and network architecture you decide upon and design:

In review, the mid-sized food store will be more suited for a topology in a bus geometric arrangement for an easier set up and avoidance to bottleneck data delays for passing through each device. The justification for the proposed selected topology will offer an opportunity that if problems occur during a normal business day not all computers are impacted in haltering business continuity. The usage of an Ethernet within chosen topology provides the means for a proactive measure to adapting to the needs of the organization as a mid-sized food store and future expansion if needed.

Further, the justification is the ability of adding on more computers for point of sale locations where specialty foods are sold within the store by separate departments. Therefore, the mid-sized food store will have the opportunity to restructure the locations of food units or cashiers that requires checkout point of sale. The implementation of the cabling will impose a creative position in and around the computers for utilizing less space as possible based on strategic operations to executing point of sale operations. In such a design, the network demonstrates a flexible structuring for utilizing technology to the current and/or real time needs of the new mid-sized food store.
