    Frequent Shopper Program

Frequent Shopper Program determines as a tracker to identify customers' purchasing behavior. This program is applied by retailers to attract long-term customers that facilitate a loyal relationship between both parties (Shimp, 2008). This paper will discuss the methods that can be used in the development of Frequent Shopper Program by Smith Consulting.

Methods to Develop Frequent Shopper Program

Waterfall Model: Waterfall Model is used for software development and works in the waterfall process. It has various phases such as requirement, design, implementation, verification, maintenance that provides a successful execution to any system development. This model can be used in the development of frequent shopper program (Nicholls, 2005). Waterfall model's requirement phase will help Smith Consulting to develop a program according to the need of Kudler Fine Foods. This model's other phases also facilitate deep analysis of every aspect that provides appropriate development of the program. Its each phase can be proceed after the proper completion of previous phase, so this model facilitate Smith Consultant the advance knowledge about success or failure of the program that helps to reduce failure risk. On the other hand, Waterfall Model cannot facilitate the ability to update. In this model information can be gathered after the process rather than during the process that reduces its flexibility to change as per change in requirements. This aspect can make a faulty development as result because it cannot be developed as the changing requirement of Kudler Fine Foods and relative environment. This may fail the whole program (Nicholls, 2005).

Iterative and Incremental Development: This method eliminates weaknesses of Waterfall model. It works in a cyclic process, starts with initial planning and end with deployment. This model can also be used in the development of Frequent Shopper Program (Datta, 2007). This method facilitates software with various levels or sub-parts. It will be very useful to develop program because it can be change at any time according to users ad change in their requirements. It is easy to manage and access the easy accessibility as advantages. It will provide a facility of feedback that can help Kudler Fine Foods to deliver food according to consumers' need. It has only a disadvantage that each phase of this method is rigid and do not overlap each other. This may create conflict between system and users that can results in the failure of the ...
