What is the relationship between design, as a core competency, and the Return on Investment (ROI) of an organization?

At its very point, a core competency for a business involves three criteria: 1) the core competency must not be easy for a competitor to duplicate, 2) the core competency must be able to be applied to all markets and products in a feasible, realistic manner, and 3) the consumer must derive a benefit from the core competency. When we combine design as a core competency, one of the most famous examples is Walt Disney World. The design of theme parks has become a core competency, because it has achieved the three criteria listed above.

Let's go back to Walt Disney. ...
