Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos

In 1995, Tony Hsieh graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Computer Science. At Harvard, he managed the Quincy House Grille. He sold pizza to the students in his dorm (his best customer, Alfred Lin, would later be Zappos's CFO and COO) After college, Hsieh worked for Oracle. After five months, Hsieh was dissatisfied with the corporate environment, and quit to found Link Exchange.
Tony Hsieh handles the management challenges of globalization; leading a diverse workforce; and ethics, character, and personal integrity like everything he does - he solves any issues and looks for the best solutions from every employee. Great customer services build a business with highly satisfied customers. Originally, Tony had a company called Link Exchange which he sold to Microsoft for $265 million in 1999. He then co-founded Venture Frogs (investment firm) with Alfred Lin - they haven't seen any money from that firm but they also invested in Ask Jeeves, Open Table, and Zappos.
Globalization is defined as the process where regional economies, societies, and cultures are integrated through a global network of ideas and communication, transportation, and trade. Zappos has implemented a real open-door policy by allowing open feedback from everyone - workers, vendors, and customers. Tony Hsieh offers 'the company's purpose is to deliver happiness to customers and employees through a great experience which provides employees and their work with intrinsic meaning. And he wants the world to know that passion, purpose, and profits can coexist.' It doesn't matter where the company is located, Zappos has earned slots on a number of "best" hits including position 23 on "100 Best Companies to Work For". Tony Hsieh believes that customer services shouldn't be just a department, it should be the entire company.
