So doing, selfish behaviors are easily detected since the reliance on others for the successful completion of one's tasks generally compels the individual to first and foremost focus on the task at hand rather than the self.

Self centered behaviors tend to also be opportunistic in nature since the individual seeks ay way possible where they can thrive at the expense of others or get things done their way. Upon identification of self centered behavior or tendencies, the manager or group leader needs to alert the individual of such behaviors being inappropriate and the harm that it presents within an organizational setting. Correcting self centered behavior may involve making the individual aware of ways they can still achieve their goals or intentions without necessarily inflicting themselves upon others in a selfish manner. Corrective action that reinforces a more positive attitude is usually the best way for the manager or leader to deal with self centered behavior as it avoids issues of confrontation and resentment.
