In my review of these very interesting articles, I have extrapolated some synergies between what Hitt et al. said needs to occur in order for leadership strategies to be successful in the 21st century landscape and what Vineet Nayar has actually accomplished since his taking over as President of HCLT in 2005. Nayar was selected by then CEO Shiv Nadar for the role of President with a mandate to improve revenue for the company as it had been lagging that of the competition for the first five years of the new century. So, Nayar, agreed to take the position on one condition. He made the CEO commit to him that upon taking the job he would be granted permission to completely shake up the entire organization by whatever means and methods he felt necessary to prepare it for competition in the 21st century (Nayar, 2010).
