Globalization has demanded a greater focus on quality (such as TQM) from companies for several reasons, such as to meet to the greater demand for quality and to utilize their competitiveness in a world of many competitors and customers who are demanding good quality products and services. As companies increase in size, for example, there has been an increasing demand for JIT management (just-in-time), which is part of TQM. JIT results in things move faster, further pushing along globalization, and relates to quality through the removal of bottlenecks in production--resulting in higher quality. Simply put, globalization calls for things to be faster and of better quality, which keeps the companies in the race through utilizing its competitiveness.
