Innovation and creativity are often used interchangeably; however, there are fundamental differences between these terms. Let us evaluate the difference between these terminologies.
Creativity is the building block or platform for innovation to take place. As per Theodore Levitt, creativity may be defined as thinking up new things whereas innovation is doing new things. In layman terms, innovation is putting action to creative thinking. Ideas generated out of creative thinking will be useless unless someone take risks with such creative ideas and put them into action to create something new and innovative.
