    HP and Palm have decided they want to do an Organizational Diagnosis to determine how various aspects of Palm are aligned such as inputs, resources, productivity, throughput effort, outputs, performance, strategy, etc. They want to know if there are any glaring issues at Palm and how these issues might affect its integration into HP.

    There is some disagreement in the Executive ranks as to which OD method of model should be used. Some Execs have familiarity with a couple of models, but it seems to be only based on what they have read or heard about. So you need to explore some models and determine their strengths and weaknesses. And ultimately you need to recommend which one is best for using at Palm. So you will also need to determine what are the several critical issue facing Palm.

    The Execs want you to include the 7S Model, the Congruence Model, and the Burke-Litwin Model in your analysis. And I want you to pick three or four more models to include as well - so we have a well-rounded group of OD models.

    Case Expectations: Your report should include the following:
    1. For each of the models you are analyzing (six or seven), a brief overview of what the model does.
    2. Clearly identify the strengths and weakness of each model.
    3. Identify and discuss two or three issues that Palm Co is facing.
    4. Determine which model you think is the best model to use.
    5. Make a recommendation. I expect you to Make a Strong Case. Explain why your selection would be the best choice. Explain how the recommended model can be used to help diagnose the issues you have identified.

    Organizational diagnosis is a framework that is used by management of the firm to analyze and assess the strength and weakness of the organizational structural portion to increase organizational effectiveness (Noolan, 2004). There will be discussion about the models of organizational diagnosis to recommend best model to Palm Co.

    Organizational Diagnosis Models
    7's Model: This model is used by the firm to analyze situation to align the organizational strategies with the available market situation for increasing organizational effectiveness. Hard and soft elements are included those are analyzed by the firm. Structure helps to develop effective organizational structure in terms of providing authority, responsibility and power. Internal flow of activities and information are determined by the firms under the system element (Burtonshaw-Gunn, 2009). It is also true that shared Values help the firm in developing core values of the firm. Style supports the firm in adopting effective leadership style to treat its employees that is good in terms of developing a well organized team.

    Staff supports to the development of abilities of the employees and hiring capabilities of the firm (Cacioppe & Edwards, 2005). It can be stated that this model helps the firm in adopting effective OD to align its inputs with its strategies to attain organizational goals. Combination of rational and emotional constituents is also its strength. At the same time, if one element of this model is going to be change, then it affects all elements in terms of implementing change that can be categorized as its weakness. So, it is the issue of concern for the organizations that must be considered before using this model.

    Congruence Model: This model is related with the organizational performance. This model helps the management to analyze the situation and working condition that goes in wrong direction. It assists the firm to adopt an effective transformation process for converting input into maximum and useful outputs (Greiner, 2009). Input, transformation process and output are the main part of this model. It also supports to the firm to identify the components those affect performance and transformation process of the organization.
