An organization analysis may be used to assess the needs of an organization. This is typically done by gather data from senior and mid level executives since they are most often responsible for strategic planning and training budget allocations.
Task analysis may be performed to determine what employees need to understand in order to accomplish their jobs (knowledge, skills, behaviors, and abilities). The sources of data are subject matter experts and managers, as well as exceptional employees who have thorough knowledge of the tasks involved in the job. Typically jobs are analyzed by breaking down tasks to look at frequency, importance and difficulty and then employees are trained to address the gaps between actual and desired performance.
