    Should companies outsource their information technology function?
    From the perspective of information technology function, the increased use of networks has not led to more outsourcing. There is greater coordination with suppliers but it has only led to less satisfaction with the suppliers. In fact increased use of networks has not led to improved quality, efficiency and satisfaction with suppliers. Most importantly increased use of networks has not led to an increase in outsourcing.

    Another perspective is that the proliferation of technology has not been able to substantially improve productivity. One explanation was that the management had not been able to take advantage of the improved information technology. In other words it had not been able to outsource. However, in 1990 US experienced an increase of productivity and this was attributed to the use of information technology. Information technology and its use in outsourcing can improve the productivity as well as reduce costs. Further to take full advantage of the information technology it is necessary to promote education and learning. If there is education and learning in developing countries, information technology can help outsourcing. Innovations may not be revolutionary but ...
