This is the healthcare for the aged. This program is available to persons 65 and above and is a federally administered system. The program provides health insurance cover to the aged and those that meet special criteria. Medicare is a social insurance program. It pays for hospital and medical care for elderly and disabled Americans. It has four parts, for hospital, medical insurance, flexibility, and prescription drugs.

Purpose of the program

The purpose of the program is to provide health insurance coverage to the disabled and aged.

Eligibility

The persons are 65 years or older, and US citizens and have been permanent legal residents for 5 continuous years, are disabled and below 65 and received disability benefits, they need dialysis for end renal stage disease, or kidney transplant, or eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance and have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
