There are varied perspectives that look into motivation, the reasons we humans take on to behave in a particular manner. These perspectives are areas of study in neuropsychology, economics, the social sciences & psychology. In Economics, understanding human behaviour, particularly motivation can give predictions that affect supply & demand, market patterns that determine profitability. In a micro scale, understanding human behaviour in terms of management, especially motivation can provide a clearer picture about the varied social mechanisms that affect the workforce and can be used to maximize employee efficiency as well as design the organizational structure to encourage positive motivation. Experts in the field of psychology have come up with several theories that explain motivation. One's motivation is his drive that compels him to achieve or perform and there are varied factors affecting that drive. The factors determine the theory and there are many. In the field of Business, organizational behaviour in particular Expectancy Theory & Reactance Theory are of import because they explain they present two sides of behaviour that motivation or pressure can drive an employee to.
