1. After reading the handout "Improving the Creativity of Organizational Work Groups" (found in the "Syllabus and Course Handouts" section of the main page), discuss your thoughts on the article in this threaded discussion. Did you agree or disagree with any particular points in the article? Why?
I am wondering if you have read the article yet? If not, that is the place to start, because this question is asking you whether or not you agree with certain points in the article and why, and this response refers to certain pages in the article.
Briefly, the article focuses on four key obstacles to creativity and then outlines 10 techniques for enhancing creative teamwork, which are practical, cost efficient and empirically supported. Thompson (2003) argues that the key questions about creativity asked by most managers are about "how to ignite it and how to regenerate it" (p. 1). Thus, he sets out to answer these questions with this article, mainly by first presenting the obstacles to creativity and then provided recommended techniques for managers to implement. Do you agree with this argument (or not)? He goes on to argue that several organizational changes and developments have necessitated an increased focus on creativity than in the past (see p. 1, first column). What do you think about Thompson's rationale? Do you agree that these changes and developments call for a greater need for creativity? Do you have any work experiences to support your ideas?
