1. Describe why stock, real-estate, and the banking system (tangible assets) of MetLife Insurance Company impact to the company. Include why they are important and how they support the organization's competitive position in their industry.
The stock is an indicator of the financial health of the company. High stock prices support the reputation of the company, give confidence to the investors and boost the banking business of Metlife. A fall in the stock business could lead to a loss of confidence of the insurance clients, create doubts about the company's ability to meet its financial obligations and cast doubts about the profitability of MetLife. Its competitors would take away its business. Again if the real estate of MetLife loses value, the assets of the company have gone down. This will reflect in the profits of the company as well as lower the assets of the company. This will cast doubts on the ability of MetLife to meet its insurance claims, its financial obligations and fund its operations. This will again lead to loss of clients to its competitors. So the value of the real estate of MetLife is most important. Finally, the banking system is important to MetLife. The confidence in the company is sustained because it is regularly and on time able to meet its financial obligations. Any wavering in this matter would mar the reputation. So, if the banking system falters and MetLife is not able to meet the claims, the business of the company will collapse. Not only that the company will immediately be sued and closed down by the court. All its customers will go to its competitors.
