"Skills gapping" is a matter of comparing supply and demand. Organizations determine the critical skills to each job (demand) and then assess people to determine the skills they possess (supply).
Most recruiters call this process "skills matching". They filter the candidates and any applicant with a high degree of match between skills desired and acquired is placed into the "keeper" pile.
