Three important items I learned form emotional intelligence are evaluating situations correctly by reducing my stress, reducing relationship stress with emotional awareness, and the importance of non-verbal communication. These three aspects stood out because I learned that correct assessment is not easy when I am stressed. Also, if I am emotionally aware, I can be at ease with others and also make others feel at ease with me. Finally, I learned that non-verbal communication was in many cases more important, effective, and honest than words. I will apply when I work as a manager to reduce my stress to make correct assessments, understanding, and decision making. I will be emotionally aware of people around me so that my relations, interactions, and influence over others is not adversely affected (a). Most importantly, I will develop control over my nonverbal communication so that others evaluate me favorably. For example, I will desist from using humor when the sentiment of my juniors is very serious.

The three things I learned about cultural competency is that I must have knowledge of different cultural practices and views, modification of my views towards cultural differences, and I should be aware of my cultural world view (b). I will apply these three concepts when I become a manager by understanding, modifying, and using communication that is by the worldview of my audience instead of using my own culture based attitudes. Also, I will make myself knowledgeable about cultural practices and worldviews of people around me so that I can interact with them effectively. For example, since my subordinate is a practicing Muslim, I will consider his cultural sentiments when assigning work to him.

The observations from a conversation I observed are that I was giving instructions as the work team leader to a team member about the proportion in which the raw material is to be ...
