[I] would be a successful doctoral learner because of my commitment to education, learning, research, and work experience in my field. Although my current goal is NOT to pursue a doctoral degree, I would rather pursue a practitioner-scholar degree.

1. Why would you pursue a Practitioner Scholar Terminal Degree as opposed to a Research Terminal Degree?

A practitioner-scholar degree gives one far more options than a sole "research" degree. A scholar can teach, do research, or work as a practitioner in a field; conversely, a researcher would only do research. Mitchell & Greenwood (n.d.) says, "Embedded in the practitioner-scholar model is the belief that professional identity is not a static phenomenon that ends once a terminal degree or appropriate licensure or certification is achieved but instead consists of life-long learning that evolves as the field does. The goal is to develop research, critical thinking, conceptualization, problem-solving, and other scientific skills..."
