I think one of the main areas where the law has fallen short is on the various areas of cost control. Even though laws are designed to protect both individuals and consumers, when many laws are enacted, they are very, very costly to businesses, and in doing so, many businesses are forced to close or drastically change their operations. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act is a good example. This Act was put into place to protect the individuals, and to protect other businesses that invest in businesses.
