The differences between white-collar and street crimes

White collar crimes are crimes committed not because of poverty, but because of social greed, social acceptance, and personal greed. Street crimes are often committed by individuals who experience poverty, may be unemployed or underemployed, and may have low education. Ethics is what an individual or organization ought to do. During the manufacturing of the Pinto, Ford followed the federal safety standards as they where currently written during this time in history. Although Ford had the ability to change its design of the Pinto to prevent explosion and the loss of lives, the company chose to continue with the current design.

Good ethics should be a part of our daily practices, which includes our business practices. Ethics is what an individual or organization ought to do. We must keep in mind what society deem as unethical is not necessary illegal. Certain activities in the U.S. are considered as unethical and illegal, but are not in other countries. The same is true among the various religion practices implemented in the U.S.

Those who follow the deontological theory believes rightness of an action is not simply dependent on maximizing the good, if that action goes against what is considered to be moral; that something is always wrong, regardless of the greater good (Sharpe, 2006).
