History of BP has not been kind to it. At its very inception BP has faced disappointment, pain, and despair. Its initial oil exploration in Persia was fraught with difficulties and problems. After BP managed to solve these problems, it faced declining demand for oil. Even though BP faced favorable conditions during the Second World War and the period after it, its operations were nationalized in Libya, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar. BP was compelled to dig for oil in new places but it faced transportation problems and building large pipelines became necessary. Even though BP assured its stakeholders that environmental concerns were important the problems of transportation took precedence and BP has neglected maintenance of pipelines and other environmental hazards.
