International Division structure:
1. In the divisional structure there is a wide range of services or goods that are produced;
2. The international divisional structure is effective when one set of goods and services are produced at one location and another set of goods and services are produced at another location.
3. The international divisional structure is used for fixing responsibility, increasing the coordination of function and improving decision making.
4. In international division structure international divisions operate as relatively autonomous businesses under the corporate umbrella. For example, the divisions of the consumer goods giant Proctor & Gamble.
Global structure:
1. There is centralized office and the production and marketing facilities are located in different parts of the world. For example a product may be produced in a facility owned in China and it is marketed in France.
2. There is a coordination of marketing with production facilities.
3. It takes advantages of different locations for economical production. For instance a facility may be located in South East China to take advantage of low cost labor.
Real Estate Company is described by a global structure:
Real estate companies typically market properties from one location to buyers all over the world.
The real estate companies also provide services locally but their focus of marketing is global. In contrast international divisional organizations have clearly demarcated local markets. For example a Unilever Division located in China will not actively market its products in the UK.
