The hospital has decided to seek accreditation of the cancer registry from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Approved Cancer Programs. To that end, the hospital has obtained the accreditation standards and is preparing to submit an application for a survey. You are part of a team that will be enhancing the cancer registry policy and procedure manual. The team wants to document their awareness of the commission's standards, the role of the National Cancer Data Base, and the knowledge of other cancer registries to demonstrate their knowledge of and ability to provide comprehensive information about cancer to patients. As a team, you will research how hospital, state, and national cancer registries work and develop documents to include in the policy manual.
