    Five influential artists of the twentieth century were Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall, Wassily Kandinsky and Georgia O'Keeffe. Each of these artists worked primarily with paint as their medium of choice, with the exception of Andy Warhol, and had distinctly unique characteristics to their work that made them stand out from other artists.
    Jackson Pollock is an American painter that was active in the Abstract Expressionist movement. Pollock's technique was unique in the fact that he did not use the traditional easel like most artists did, but rather affixed his canvases to the wall or poured paint onto them on the floor of his studio. He also added strange blends of material to the paint to give it a thick paste-like texture, such as sand and broken glass. Pollock is best known for his introduction of the All over style of painting which avoids any points of emphasis within the work.
