As you compare and contrast the Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles with regard to their social and religious environments, you might add that both are the same since they carried Christian religious meanings. Socially, they both offer intense worship experiences. However, they also differ in many ways.

For example, please note that the Romanesque conjures darker, mysterious, and even eerie moods, whereas the Gothic creates a brighter, more open, more colorful, and cheerier tones.
