Rank the following data in increasing order and find the positions and values of both the 39th percentile and 73rd
percentile. Please show all of your work.
    5 5 0 0 9 6 8 9 2 6 3 8
    Solution
Arranging the data in increasing order we get,
    0 0 2 3 5 5 6 6 8 8 9 9
    Here the value of n = 12.
For finding the 39th percentile, we choose k = 39.
    Now, (nk)/100 = (12)(39)/100 = 4.68
    Therefore, d(P39) = 5
    Thus, P39 = 5th Value = 5

For finding the 73rd percentile, we choose k = 73.
    Now, (nk)/100 = (12)(73)/100 = 8.76
    Therefore, d(P73) = 9
    Thus, P73 = 9th Value = 8
