Statistics: Chi-square Tests of Independence
The hypothesis that is considered for this study is that a higher rate/prevalence of pornography use is associated with decreased level of relationship satisfaction. Please run the appropriate tests to show whether pornography use leads to less relationship satisfaction, or whether the results do not prove it. Please provide a succinct description in the discussion section.
All the variables are listed in the SPSS file.
Also attached is the survey questionnaire that is used for coding.

Answer:
We can use chi-square test of independence here to assess whether there is any association between pornography use and less relationship satisfaction.
The null hypothesis tested is
H0: There is no association between pornography use and less relationship satisfaction.
The alternative hypothesis is
H1: There is association between pornography use and less relationship satisfaction.
The test statistic used is where O is the observed frequency and E is the expected frequency.
Rejection Criteria: Reject the null hypothesis, if the observed significance (p-value) is less than the significance level 0.05.
The observed and expected frequencies are given below.

a. 7 cells (87.5%) have expected count less than 5. The minimum expected count is .32.
Conclusion: Fails to reject the null hypothesis, since the observed significance (p-value) is greater than the significance level 0.05. The sample does not provide enough evidence to conclude that there is association between pornography use and less relationship satisfaction.
