If there is some evidence one perceives about a difference among races, for instance that members of race X demonstrate above average intelligence, I do not consider it racist to believe that people of race X are typically "smart". However, I would consider it racist to assume that such a generalization is reason to hire a specific individual of race X over an individual of race Y, if evidence exists ...
