Philosophies influencing Latin America

When we say Latin America, we are talking about a vast expanse of land and peoples, stretching from Central America, the Caribbean all the way to the Strait of Magellan down the Drake Passage at the tip of Chile and Argentina. It's massive, with regions and geographic conditions ranging from tropical to temperate, from the highest of the Andean Mountains to deserts, tropical beaches, the Amazon River and jungles to big cities. One thing that is common among all these countries and peoples is their colonial experience under Spanish and Portuguese colonial masters. As such, the term 'Latin' and it is here that we can discern the philosophies most influential in this particular part of the world.
