There is an old diagnostic category referred to as "smiling depression" that may have some relevance here. There are certainly those people who do not show depressed moods at all, either because they are just that way or are consciously trying to hide depression. Based on this and the other posts, doesn't it seem very probable that if these people became suicidal we would never know it?
