Adolescence is a hard time of life for anyone and the pressure of fitting in with peers is at its highest during this phase of life. For those individuals who are homosexual, this can be an extra difficult time. If a teen is considered different, they can be mercilessly teased, tormented and bullied. With the increased usage of social media, cyber bullying is now a huge concern for all teens but also for homosexual teens specifically. "A common theme identified in empirical studies and clinical reports of lesbian, gay male, and bisexual youths is the chronic stress that is created by the verbal and physical abuse they receive from peers and adults" (Savin-Williams, 1994, p. 261).
