As you briefly discuss the key components within the disease model of addictive disorders and co-occurring disorders,

I see some strengths. I like its emphasis on nature as it takes genetic and biological factors into consideration. I do feel like its implications on genetics definitely alleviates some patients' guilt and self-blame. By offering the metaphor of a disease, enables clients to see it just as they would a medical issue and take it more seriously.
