Research suggests that Juveniles commit a significant number of the sexual assaults against both children and women in the U. S. The sexual victimization of children by adolescents has. Studies also suggests that sexual victimization by adolescents have become a serious societal problem. At least 20% of arrests for all sexual offenses with the exception of prostitution are committed by juveniles under the age of 12Adolescents under the age of 18 years. They account for 20-30% of all rapes cases, and 14% of aggravated assault (Pratt, Patel, Greydanus, Dennison, Walcott & Sloane, (2001). Other research points to a distinction between adult and juvenile sex offenders based on that the onset of the offending behavior that is linked to numerous factors such as: (a) environmental exposure, (b) developmental deficits, and (c) family problems (Understanding Juvenile Sexual offending behavior, 1999). Given the preceding statements, two types of Juvenile Sex offenders can be considered for discussion that include: (1) Child Abusers [Paraphilias or Pedophilia], and (2) Female Adolescent rapists.
