Lifespan Development is an important concept in developmental psychology. It looks at the varied stages and elements in the course of human lives from birth, childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, mid-life maturity and the twilight years. Psychologists and sociologists who look to study the human lifespan are interested in finding out the processes across the developmental stages, the situations that are so often familiarly experienced at each development stage and the experience these brought plus the impact such experiences have in the development of personality and identity, including the negative effect of certain experiences (i.e. accidents, heartbreaks, trauma) that lead to the development of disorders and problems affecting personality and behavior.
