Research shows that in recent years, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) models have gained significant empirical support. For instance, based on the cognitive-behavioral model, children act out to cope with environmental circumstances or getting their needs met. CBT encompasses a category of related theories that are focused on tasks to solving a problem and/or making changes in a client's situation or environment (Archer & McCarthy, 2007). The therapeutic intervention encompasses a diverse set of techniques and strategies in which clients are encouraged to focus on environmental influences of the events, rather than the events themselves

(a) Jhangee (2014) explains the use and efficacy of CB therapies for treating substance abuse. She asserts that standard CBT is "the most effective approach to treatment with a drug and alcohol population that is accepted by many clients. The therapeutic process involves identifying high-risk situations that triggers craving, and developing skills to manage these cravings or other painful emotions without using substances. The approach RP is reported to be effective as an evidence-based treatment plan.
