1. Assessment tools/impressions
- Hmong culture may not express emotions the same was as European Americans. They tend to not show extreme emotions such as elation in happiness nor furious anger when upset.
- Awareness of the culture is important when doing a clinician evaluation or diagnostic impressions for PTSD. Depression symptoms may be repressed or less likely to be detected where as anxiety symptoms may be more prominent. Thus, clinicians need to be more sensitive to those issues.
