Although there are many unlicensed mental health professionals working toward licensure who are employed as psychologists there is potential for great harm for people who wish to get psychological health form unlicensed professionals in the field of abnormal psychology who pass themselves off as being licensed. They may do things such as take money from patients for services they really do not need. If the patient does not question it it can go on repeatedly and ultimately the patient may not get the help he/she needs for a particular issue. Unlicensed professionals in the field of abnormal psychology are more likely to misdiagnose the root cause of abnormal behavior, for example identify a patient as having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder when he/she does not posses the symptoms common to those with OCD. ...
