Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is one of the most common causes of adult/elderly dementia which is a serious loss of cognitive ability in individuals who were previously healthy. This is different from aging in that AD actually is more progressive with far more intense memory and cognitive ability impairment. The sad thing about AD is that to this date, there is no cure. It continues to worsen progressively over time until the expiration of the stricken. German Psychiatrist/Neurophathologist Alois Alzheimer first described the disease in 1906 via observations of a female patient, Auguste Deter in Frankfurt - the first person diagnosed with AD.
