In working with reliability in research, there are four types of methods to determine reliability. They are:
1. Re-test Method
2. Alternative Form Method
3. Split-Halves Method
4. Internal consistency Method

Each of these is a different method and I will describe each one and provide a situation for each where you would anticipate how each of these methods would work best.

RE-TEST METHOD:
This method is the most often used and the easiest to interpret reliability. When using the re-test method, the research administers the same measurement (tool, survey, questionnaire, etc.) to the participants after a period of time to see if their results are similar to the first time they participated. Remember, this is not a pre/post type of measurement, but a RE test measurement. Are the results the same each and every time the measurement is applied?
