It depends, at least in part, on the individual and whether they are internally or externally focused. For example, someone who scores high on an intrinsic measure (e.g., Rotter's locus of control), would be better motivated with intrinsic motivators which comes from within, the interest in a task, and the satisfaction that comes from doing a job well, feeling competent in your ability to successfully complete the task, when an activity is satisfying or pleasurable in and of itself, etc. However, not everyone would agree, as there are many motivation theories, ...
