Global Forensic Practice Issues

Not what you're looking for?

Ask Custom Question

You considered issues related to the use of technology in forensic psychology. You considered how technology mobility and accessibility might affect delivery of services in forensic psychology. One consequence of society becoming more mobile related to forensic psychology is that professionals may provide services to a greater number of individuals across a wider variety of settings. In fact, they may be able to extend services to international communities. Psychology professionals in the military, for example, may provide services in prisons in foreign countries. Likewise, research psychologists working in forensic settings may evaluate the effectiveness of a test across various cultures. Yet psychology professionals with a western service delivery system in mind write the APA Ethics Code and the AP-LS guidelines. When forensic psychology professionals venture beyond the borders of the United States and other "western" countries, what constitutes "ethical practice" may not always be commensurate with current codes of ethics. As a student of forensic psychology, it is important to think beyond western approaches to forensic psychology. Given current ethical codes and guidelines, you might find it challenging to explore how forensic psychology services might be provided to global populations and the potential ethical conflict in doing so
