Thus far our current President has unfortunately undergone political racial profiling. Despite his earnest and sincere efforts to fix an inherited broken economy, remain commander and chief under a pre-established war, make attempts to fix the reputation that America has established internationally, and focus on domestic job development for a country that outsources a great majority of its business, he is still being unsupported and plotted against by his comrades. An entire new political party has emerged for the sole purpose of ushering in his ultimate demise. You would think that after he launched a successful campaign to capture the world's leading terrorists he would garner the respect of his peers. Just a few days ago President Obama celebrated his 50th birthday and on that same day, the stock market crashed. There was more news coverage about the crash in the media than about his birthday celebration. Despite thes challenges President Obama continues to prove that he has the best interest of the American citizen on his political agenda. During his campaign in 2008, President Obama proposed a universal health care initiative. At the opening of his Presidency he presented his initiative to Congress and the American public and it was scrutinized, vilified, and considered presumptuous. Until it is passed and accepted we will never know if it is effective however, his efforts to use his Presidency as a platform to lobby health insurance coverage for all Americans is beyond worthy of exploration.
President Obama's Health Care Goals
The President intentions concerning health care are to sustain those existing providers, doctors, and expand stipulations of current health care so as to provide affordable, accessible care for all Americans. The President wants to create a National Insurance Exchange (NIE), where a range of private insurance options are offered, and a new public plan is available for individuals and small businesses that matches those benefits members in Congress receive. His plan further requires insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. This is important because many of the 'better" medical insurance policies often times deny coverage for people who have cancer, AIDS, or a medical condition which require constant care. The President's plan also calls for more preventive services and care coordination. His plan emphasises prescription drug savings by way of the legalization of drug importation, generic drug usage, and an approval for generic biologics as well as a negotiation between the Federal government and drug manufacturers to lower the prices on pharmaceuticals purchased using Medicare. His monetary projections show that his plan can limit the annual cost of medical services and care by $2,500 per family.
Cost of Health Care Reform
The approximate cost of President Obama's health care initiative is estimated at $2 trillion over the next ten years. When asked, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services commented on the high price for health care insurance overhaul,
"The President believes we can't afford not to reform our health care system. ... Modernizing our health care system and ensuring affordable coverage will require an up-front federal ...
