Hewlett Packard and Compaq merger
In 2002, Hewlett-Packard Company bought out its rival, Compaq Computer Corporation to offer both the business industry and consumers a full range of IT products and services. This $19 billion dollar merger would give the newly formed company a worldwide standing in servers, handhelds, PCs, printers, IT services, and hand-helds.

Negative Issues:
?The merger was opposed by investors and shareholders as well as the employees of both companies - since both the companies were already hurting by price wars going on in the industry, the way to mitigate this problem would be to differentiate itself from other competitors and establish itself and a new and stronger company - the company could have used that argument to mitigate any initial ill-feelings about the merger.
