Economic groups seek to consolidate power and achieve direct benefits or advantages within the marketplace. Their interaction in the political sphere is a means to their economic ends. Citizens' groups have social and political goals that are usually oriented around a specific community, thread of identity, social grouping, or political orientation. Their focus is on social, but not necessarily economic, power. Both economic and citizens' groups can have the following: dues, elected officers and set charters, and political lobbying bodies.
